Wa Bible Revision Workshop

Wa Bible Revision Workshop was held in Maesai, Thailand during 12-14 July 2007.

The UBS Translation Consultant Dr Simon Wong represented the UBS, the translation Officer Rev Khoi Lam Thang represented Bible society of Myanmar. Rev Saw Mar Gay Gyi the General Secretary of Myanmar Bible Society also presented at the workshop for necessary arrangment.

The participants were: Rev Ai Nap Khun Nyi (President of WBC), Rev Nyi Thai (Director of Men's fellowship of WBC), Rev Ngo Khun Pen (General Secretary of WBC), Rev Ai Nap Tao (AGS WBC), Saya Sam Lao (AGS WBC), Rev Kyaw Naing Win (Principal of Wa Bible School), Saya Aron Shwe (Evangelist), Rev Moses (Wa Broadcaster for 24 years), Rev Sam Rang (Director of Divine Inheritance Foundation).

The population of Wa comprised of 700,000 in Myanmar, 400,000 in China and 50,000 in Thailand. There are 224 Wa churches under WBC and more than 160 ministers are faithfully serving today. The first Wa NT was translated by Rev M Vincent Young and published in 1938. The trail edition of Wa Bible was published in 2005 and the revision under the leadership of Bible society of Myanmar started this year. Please pray that the project speed up in the future and be accomplished by 2010 which is the tentative schedule of the project.
