Dr. Stephen Hre Kio

Dr. Stephen Hre Kio was Pastor of Falam Baptist Church and Haka Baptist Church in Chin State, Burma, in the 1960’s.

After 10 years, he was asked to do Bible translation in Falam language and did work on that for over eleven years. Following that, he graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1985 with a Ph. D. in New Testament Studies.

Dr. Stephen Hre Kio joined the United Bible Societies translation department as Translation Consultant. Over the next 18 years, he worked as Translation Consultant on 4 translation projects in the Solomon Islands, 5 projects in Micronesia, one project in Thailand and 16 projects in Burma. Most of these translations have been published by the Bible Societies. 

Dr. Stephen Hre Kio is currently working on a revision of Falam Bible, which should be finished by the end of 2004.  Following the completion of the Falam Bible, he will begin working on writing commentaries of NT in Falam language.
