Bible Ministry Workshop in Kalemyo

Nov. 27- Dec 2, 2004.

    Kalemyo is a major town in Sgaing Division and also a business center  linking the Northern Chin State where 90% of the population is Christian and Sagaing Division. There are more than (600) churches in Kale township affiliating to more than (30) Denominations. There are also the National Headquarters of at least four Denomination including the Presbyterian church of Myanmar, which is a member church of the Bible Society of Myanmar.

     The one-day Bible Ministry Workshop was held in Kalemyo on November 27, 2004 led by the General Secretary and Translation officer of BSM. There were altogether (112) participants who are mostly key church leaders from 16 Denominations. The workshop started with a short devotion and greetings from president of the Kalemyo Council of church, the senior pastor of the host church, Agape Assembly of God church and the General Secretary of BSM.

     The first input was given by Rev. Khoi Lam Thang, translation officer on Bible Translation: the heart of our Mission and also followed by Bible study based on John1: 14. Rev. Saw Mar Gay Gyi The general secretary made the presentation on the Bible Ministry highlighting  the worldwide Ministry and focusing on the Ministry in Myanmar. After the input and presentation there were questions and answers, suggestions and encouragement to enhance the Bible Ministry. Some participants made commitment to become supporting member of the BSM.

      The main objectives of this workshop is to make the local church leaders and members to be fully aware of the Bible Ministry and  to be involved in this important ministry by prayer support and financial contribution. We are thankful that this workshop could be conducted successfully.
