Rev Lun Kham (63), is a Hawa Naga participant at Sustainable Literacy workshop held during April 6-8, 2006. He is originally from remote Naga Hill, and was sent to the small town called ‘Putao’ which is 3 weeks journey on-foot together with his 8 family members a crossing 3 icy mountains ranges in the early 1960s for promotion of literacy and Bible translation in his language. After four years, they moved again to Tachileik, another small town at the border of Thailand, for the same cause, where he lose all his belongings and translation documents in fire amidst of battle between the government and insurgents. Rubbing tears on his check, he emotionally said,
“As a young boy, I had a dream that one day my people will have written script like Jinghpaw and every body can read Bible and sing Hymns in my mother tongue. Today my dream comes true and the task is upon my shoulder. There are many difficulties and obstacles for this cause in my region, but I am determined to move on and ready to pass on to next generation”. |
